In 2019, a dying olive ridley sea turtle washed ashore in Costa Rica. Rescuers found its stomach filled with plastic bags, bottle caps, and straws—everyday items that had turned fatal.
This real incident (documented in the Marine Pollution Bulletin) was a profound wake-up call for us. It highlighted how the plastic waste from our daily lives, in all its forms, can have devastating consequences for our planet’s wildlife.
It inspired us to find a better way. We asked ourselves:
